About

I'm a technical lead and AI engineer based in Berlin. I've spent 15+ years building software, starting with interactive art and live performance before moving into medical devices and automotive AI. I lead engineering teams and work directly with customers and developers, from the first requirements through to production.

Current work

I'm Head of AI Deployment at CARIAD, the Volkswagen Group software company, where I lead 12 engineers taking AI models from research prototypes to automotive hardware. I work with engineering teams, Volkswagen Group brands and semiconductor partners to integrate models, meet performance and reliability requirements, and deliver releases.

Before leading the team, I built a Python SDK for model conversion and optimization, and a runtime abstraction layer used by other engineering teams. I worked with those teams from their first requirements through production integration, and enjoyed seeing the tools become part of their day-to-day work.

At NELA by Carepath Technologies, I worked on model design, device firmware and IoT architecture for an AI-based tele-monitoring product for chronic-disease patients. That work ran from requirements to series production in a regulated healthcare environment.

Creative work

My background is in telecommunication engineering and sound and music computing. At Ars Electronica in Linz, I built interactive computer-vision installations and led development of GeoPulse, a spatial-data visualization platform.

I then spent six years as a freelance creative technologist. I built lighting products for ProtoPixel, wearables with ElektroCouture and installations with Moritz Waldemeyer. For Aakash Odedra Company's Murmur, I engineered the show software and operated it on the world tour. Alongside that work, I taught, gave talks and ran workshops and hackathons, from Barcelona and Berlin to Bangkok and Accra.

Personal projects

Outside work, I build Alibi, a murder-mystery game with LLM suspects, memory and automated evaluations. My on-device robot assistant combines voice and vision without the cloud. I also write GPU flocking simulations in Rust. My main languages are Python and C++; I use Rust for personal projects.

How I work

I like to put a working prototype in front of the people who will use it early. Their feedback, along with benchmarks and evaluations, helps me decide what to keep. I use shared tools, documentation and mentoring to help other engineers ship their work. I plan for testing, performance and traceability from the start.

Away from the keyboard, I'm into sports and nutrition. I'm vegan and care about animals and the environment.
